Chronic Bronchitis

Chronic bronchitis.

The cough, also known as infectious tracheobronchitis of dogs, is easily transmitted from one dog to another. It is believed that this illness is caused by some viruses and the bacterium Bordatella Bronchiseptica. Symptoms of the disease are: intermittent dry cough with expectoration from a nose, or without it. Such cough poses a threat to the life of a dog: many dogs make complete recovery in some weeks. However, puppies and small dogs need special care. Any animal with such cough needs to be placed in warm damp conditions and be isolated from other dogs. The veterinary surgeon can prescribe antibiotics. Besides, against some viruses causing cough there are inoculations.

Bronchitis can develop after cough or some respiratory infection. Never rest content if the temperature is usual, but the dog looks bad.

Foreign body in a trachea.
Sideration of strong cough can be caused by something, which got into the trachea. It can happen, if dog was vomiting or it breathes something into nose. If expectoration did not help, you should quickly bring your dog to the veterinary surgeon, who will remove this subject.

Symptoms are noisy breathing, which appears after physical or emotional strain. Such dog needs surgical treatment. In this situation laryngeal collapse threatens it, and even can block air intake. If your dog has such serious illness, it needs the help of veterinary surgeon.

Airway collaps.
It is a congenital defect which small dogs have. These dogs have an abnormal noisy and hard breath, and are predisposed to cough. It is not life-threatening, but sometimes for elimination of this defect, an operation is needed. Take care of its calmness, suit its convenience and keep it in normal weight, because obesity worsens the phenomena of respiratory embarrassment.

Cleft palate.
It is also a congenital defect; this is an orifice between oral cavity and nasal cavity. It often does not allow puppy to suck. One of the first symptoms is discharge from a nose. If it is a small deformation, cleft can be eliminated surgically.

Elongated soft palate.
Dogs with elongated soft palate, these are usually representatives of short-faced breeds, have discharge from nose and noisy breathing, because soft palate blocks movement of air. You can see that the dog with elongated soft palate breathes through the mouth, uttering snorting sounds.
