Ferret Hammock – Do You Need One For A Happy And Healthy Ferret?

Taking the plunge into ferret parenthood is a big decision. It is best to research and understand the needs of your pet before bringing it home. Learning about what can make your ferret sick and what makes it happy are essential to a happy and healthy pet. Bedding is a very important thing to consider, so let us first answer the question “ferret hammock – do you need one?”

Things like getting a water and food container are obvious needs, but what about bedding? The needs of a ferret are more than a cat or a dog when it comes to bedding because of the amount of time a ferret sleeps. Ferrets typically sleep, on average eighteen to twenty hours a day. This means a pleasant sleeping area is a must.

Ferrets usually sleep in shifts from two to six hours and are most active during dusk and dawn. However, when they are awake, they want to get out of their cage and play. They are very active, loving creatures that can be a wonderful companion, if given the opportunity.

When mulling over a supply list for your new house pet, consideration of bedding and sleeping arrangements need to be done carefully. The reason being is that sometimes, if not taken care of properly, ferrets may find their bedding dangerous. Their bedding needs to be soft and they need to be able to cuddle into it. They need a comfortable area to call their own. If circumstances allow, two sleeping areas may be better than one. Typically choosing one that is warmer and the other one with lighter bedding will be good. The reason for this is, if its sleep is disturbed, it may result in health problems.

Ferret hammocks offer your pet a safe area to sleep in. Not only that, but they also offer a lot of options to better suit your pet. What that means is they come in all shapes and sizes with as many patterns as you can think of. Some larger ones can hold multiple ferrets, so that they can sleep together, which is something they enjoy.

Another benefit of a hammock is that the ferret is not likely to overheat, which can be harmful to them. This is avoided by the design of the ferret hammock which typically has a pocket for the ferret to climb in to. The hole allows for air circulation and a regulation of the ferret’s body temperature.

The hammocks, which are suspended in the cage, could also rescue your pet from a fall or offer it a boost to a higher level. This can be very beneficial if you have an older ferret that needs a little help getting around.

If the normal sleeping pattern of the ferret is disturbed or unpleasant, it could cause it to be unhealthy or at least unhappy. Ferrets are very susceptible to heat stroke, which could kill them, so keeping your ferrets cool is a must. If your ferret’s cage is in direct sunlight, it is suggested you move it because if the area gets above 80 degrees, it can be very dangerous to your ferret.

They are very active, intelligent, loving creatures. Caring for them is not difficult, but it is important to prepare for them and understand their needs before bringing one home. Understanding the importance of each object and its design will help you build a happy and safe environment for your new furry friend.
