How Do You Choose A Dog Bed?

Dogs love to do two things, play around, and of course they like to sleep! So you really need to make sure they have a nice place to go and have a nap when they start to get tired. If you get them a bed they really love then you won’t have to put up with them sleeping on your bed or your couch, and it is also important that they have a place that is their own little bedroom they can retreat to when they need some space (for instance if they are feeling ill or maybe they have been scared by something).

It is not always the easiest thing to choose though a dog bed, there are so many different designs and materials to choose from that picking one your dog really adores might be tough. Below are some tips we’ve collected on how to pick the perfect bed:

Does your dog have a special sleeping spot?: Dogs all have their own personalities, which means they have their own likes and dislikes too, so if they don’t like the bed that you have purchased then you can do very little to change their mind. Once you tire of trying to get them to love that new bed then take some time to check out where they do like to sleep.

If they always tend to sleep in a corner somewhere then maybe they need a bed which has higher sides to make them feel safer?

Make sure there is enough padding in it to allow them to be comfortable: Some dog beds look really uncomfortable, they are basically an oversized bucket! Dogs like to be comfortable just like us, so if you do buy one of those kind then consider getting some sort of cushion lining for it so they can be more comfortable. The more comfortable you make it the more likely they are to enjoy spending time in it.

Make sure it is not going to be chewed up: Having a dog who likes to chew things is tough, if they are relatively large they will have powerful jaws and will make short work of most beds. That is why you can find indestructible dog beds for sale now. There are a few different types, one has a metal frame around the outside with fabric stretched over it to make the area they sleep on, that stops them chewing from the edges in as they’d have to chew through the metal. Then you have others which are just a stronger and thicker kind of plastic, or super tough cushions.

Hopefully now you can find the ideal bed for your furry little friend and they can get a good nights sleep in comfort!
