Knowing that registering a dog is not obligatory, a dog owner may not take the trouble to register the pet. Being registered or not will not really make a difference to the quality of life a dog will have as the animal will remain as man’s most loyal friend.
A kennel club registration certificate is not an assurance that the dog will not be destructive when bored nor would it mean that the dog will suddenly be affectionate to the people it does not consider as its friends. Taking time to register the pet though is important as you may think of breeding the dog someday. Of course for a purebred dog to be mated with another purebred being registered with a kennel club is necessary. When a puppy is purchased the breeder should provide the new dog owner with a Dog Application Registration form as this will be needed in case the owner decides to register the dog.
Breeders of purebred dogs are required to register their dogs. Owners of companions dogs would not think of registering the pet. Not many owners are aware of the benefits they can get if the dog is registered. Dog owners are certainly proud of the achievements of the pet. A dog that garnered awards in kennel club events would make an owner extremely proud but this will only be possible if the dog is a registration certificate holder.
The American Kennel Club and the United Kennel Club are two major kennel clubs where you can register your dog. Although filling up the registration form and paying the registration fee can be accomplished easily, a dog has to meet some requirements before it can be accepted by the kennel clubs. One of the requirement of the American Kennel Club is a verified parentage for three generations. The kennel clubs requires that the sire and dam as well as the litter must be registered.
A reputable dealer must be able to provide the new owner with a Dog registration Application that contains all the information necessary to register the dog. An owner can choose to register online or to complete a paper copy of the application form. An owner registering a dog has to supply information about the pet, data about the owner and the owners of the litter. Submit the filled up registration form, pay the registration fees and wait a few months for the registration certificate that will be mailed by the kennel club.
