Us dog lovers are not usually willing to admit that our sweet baby could ever do anything that someone else would object to, not our dog. So, something like barking all night and keeping the neighborhood wide awake is completely out of the question. Yet there are times when some unknown monster starts the activity and unless you go out there to tend to the matter it will last all night. Before spending money, consider some other issues that might be a solution. You could simply bring the dog indoors and try to make it stop barking, which could take the rest of the night. Besides, all that noise is now in your house and this might make the neighbors happy, but you are not getting your sleep.
Many things can prompt a dog to start barking for no apparent reason, so it does not have to be some monster, real or imagined. Simple hunger can be the reason for getting your attention to feed them. Or they might be thirsty, so make sure they have plenty of water. The word to notice here is the word static, meaning it delivers a shock like the kind you get when you walk across the room and get shocked when you flip the light switch. It might sting, but it is not known to be deadly. However, when shopping for this kind of training aid, look for one that is internationally accepted. Some of them are not up to world wide regulations.
Another type of bark collar is the sonic anti bark which, of course, makes use of sound waves to distract your dog from barking. Some of these units are actually out of the range of our human hearing, but others might only claim something like being mostly out of the range. Find out before you purchase.
Here is an interesting idea in bark control called the citronella spray collar. This one sprays citronella when the dog barks and if you like the smell of citronella it might be the one you would rather use.
What you need to keep in mind is that none of these products are recommended for constant use. There are the issues of having to recharge them or replace the batteries, not to mention that they can become damaged if left unattended while you are away at work. Keeping this in mind your canine vocal problems might be remedied by the use of one of the models of bark collars.
