Popularity Of Small Dogs Continues To Rise

It is becoming more and more common to own a dog that is from a smaller size breed. These pets often have much larger personalities than the largest of breeds. These pint-sized pets can have their positive and negative qualities.

People that are physically unable or simply don’t have a large amount of free time may opt for a smaller pet because they will not have to worry about how the pet will get enough physical exertion. Without regular walks, many dogs will get more aggressive and have behavioral problems.

If a pet owner enjoys having people come over for dinner parties, they will love having a small dog that will not be in the way of their guests. Many smaller breeds can still be the life of the party without accidentally hitting the drink of a guest onto the floor with an overzealous wagging tail.

Some of the problems associated with little breeds are health related. These pets should be taken to the vet regularly for teeth cleaning. Gum disease is very common in canines with small mouths and teeth. Breeding small dogs is not recommended for regular pet owners either.

People love small breeds because they are seen as more childlike. Some people like to dress their dogs up for Halloween or other occasions. It is easy to find novelty clothing for dogs of this size. It is not always easy to find a stylish dog breed ribbon collars with nylon webbing, which is needed for any dog. These breeds are so fun to have compete in dog performance shows.

Owners of tiny dogs should take note that their pets can be more susceptible to disease and sickness. Food choices should be made wisely to avoid any weight gain on the animal’s small frame as well.

If you are interested in adopting a small dog, be cautious of the breed you choose. Small dogs are not all the same and you should select a dog that will best fit in with your current lifestyle.
