Us dog lovers are not usually willing to admit that our sweet baby could ever do anything that someone else would object to, not our dog. So, something like barking all night and keeping the neighborhood wide awake is completely out of the question. Yet there are times when some unknown monster starts the activity and unless you go out there to tend to the matter it will last all night. This could be a really good time to consider buying one of those Bark Collars.

Before spending money, consider some other issues that might be a solution. You could simply bring the dog indoors and try to make it stop barking, which could take the rest of the night. Besides, all that noise is now in your house and this might make the neighbors happy, but you are not getting your sleep.

Many things can prompt a dog to start barking for no apparent reason, so it does not have to be some monster, real or imagined. Simple hunger can be the reason for getting your attention to feed them. Or they might be thirsty, so make sure they have plenty of water. And many times a dog simply has too much energy pent up from laying around all day waiting for the owners to get home, and now it is time to get the humans to play.

Having done your homework and making sure your dog has plenty of food, water and exercise, and all else has failed, there are training aids available which are designed to help in solving this problem.

Most people think of this type of bark collar which is the static electric shock anti bark collar. The word to notice here is the word static, meaning it delivers a shock like the kind you get when you walk across the room and get shocked when you flip the light switch. It might sting, but it is not known to be deadly. However, when shopping for this kind of training aid, look for one that is internationally accepted. Some of them are not up to world wide regulations.

Another type of bark collar is the sonic anti bark which, of course, makes use of sound waves to distract your dog from barking. Some of these units are actually out of the range of our human hearing, but others might only claim something like being mostly out of the range. Find out before you purchase.

Here is an interesting idea in bark control called the citronella spray collar. This one sprays citronella when the dog barks and if you like the smell of citronella it might be the one you would rather use.

What you need to keep in mind is that none of these products are recommended for constant use. There are the issues of having to recharge them or replace the batteries, not to mention that they can become damaged if left unattended while you are away at work. Keeping this in mind your canine vocal problems might be remedied by the use of one of the models of bark collars.

One of the more unfortunate issues that pets often become afflicted with is a condition known as mange. When this disease begins manifesting, the results can often be dramatic and unsettling, especially if pet owners are very close to their pets. Luckily, the issue is usually not very serious and can be treated effectively.

Mange is defined as a very persistent and contagious skin disease. It is actually an infestation of the epidermis by small, parasitic mites. These mites will burrow into the skin of the animal, feeding on the skin, oil glands and hair follicles. The results can be very unsettling and need to immediately be treated.

This issue is most commonly associated with animals, especially animals with fur like cats and dogs. They can infest other animals though, and can even inhabit humans. People, however, are not a suitable host for the parasite and they tend to die off within a week or so after infecting a person.

When the symptoms of this issue manifest, then can be very troubling for those unfamiliar with this common problem. An initial symptom is severe itching made noticeable by frequent scratching. Fur will often begin falling out in large clumps. The pet can become very stress, often leading to weakness and weight loss. If left without treatment, the issue can become fatal

Prevention is the ideal way of dealing with this very common problem. This, unfortunately, is very difficult to accomplish. The infestation is very easily passed on from host to host through simple physical contact. The only real way of preventing the issue is to keep your pets away from stray animals or other animals that you suspect may carry the disease. Also important is a keeping the animal health through good hygiene and a healthy diet.

There are many treatment options available, however, it is best that you speak with a veterinarian before beginning any procedures. Allow the vet to examine the dog for the severity of the condition and the best treatment options for the pet. These options usually take the form of medicated injections and dips.

The skin disease known as mange is a very common issue for pet owners. It is very important, however, that you take the issue seriously and speak with a veterinarian. The issue can become very serious if gone untreated, so consult a vet to discuss the severity of the issue and the treatment options that will help prevent a worsening of the issue and prevent more problems for your pet.

Get complete details on a fast and effective cure for mange today! When you are looking for the mange medicine that will treat your pet quickly, you can find it now!

The term of mange can be used to describe a parasitic infestation of mites in the skin and hair. Two types of mites can cause this condition, although both kinds will cause the same symptoms. Itchy, crusty areas that the dog scratches at can be an indication that your dog has these mites. The dog may scratch and bite excessively in an attempt at relief, and may cause further issues by doing so.

The canine scabies mite is one common mite that can cause mange. It is also known as sarcoptes scabiei canis, or scabies. These mites live under the skin and can be passed to other pets and people. It can affect all dogs, but is more likely in animals that are not well cared for.

The other type found in dogs is caused by the demodex mite. It is normally present on the skin, and may not cause problems. For some dogs that may have a sensitivity or suppressed immune system, these mites can get out of control. If the dog’s immune system is unable to fight them off, the mites can overpopulate the skin.

Mange is a not always easy to diagnose. Commonly, a scraping of an affected skin area is taken and viewed under a microscope to see if mites are present. This can result in a false negative diagnosis. Another test called the Pedal Pinna reflex may work, especially if the scraping showed no indication. The ear areas are scratched, and if the dog responds by a pedaling action or scratching motion with the hind foot or feet, mites can be suspected.

A dog that has a suspected case of mange should be separated from other pets and people as soon as possible. Bedding and any places the dog frequents should be washed or treated with a spray to ensure there is no cross contamination or reinfestation.

There are several methods that can be used to get rid of the mites, and all can be effective. Rinses, skin drips and oral medications have all proven to be effective, however may not always work and might require re-treatment. Always complete all treatments, even if it seems that the mites are gone. There may be eggs present that will hatch and cause a reinfestation.

Any medical issues with your dog should always be brought to the attention of a veterinarian. Prescription treatments to remove mites are the most effective way of ridding your dog of these pests, and are only available with a prescription. Home remedies can be dangerous, and often have little or no effect.

There are several different types of mites than can cause the misery of mange in your pets. It is important to treat the animal with mange cream or mange spray in order to provide relief from burning and itching.

Dogs that have mange are going to be noticeably miserable. The scratching and digging is constant and will sometimes go one until affected areas are bleeding sores. You should never let a dog get to this point in any skin condition. Once you see a scratching problem that is getting out of hand, a trip to the vet should be imminent.

Sarcoptic and demodectic mites are the two most common mites that cause mange in dogs. The symptoms you may see are going to be similar. However, the severity of the sarcoptic mite damage is a lot worse than that of demodectic mites. Your vet will be able to tell you which one you are dealing with and the best treatment for it.

The symptoms for each of these types of mange are similar. The only real way to tell the difference is through a skin scraping test at your vet. The scraping can be viewed to determine the kind of microscopic mite at work on your dogs skin. If you notice itchy and red skin due to constant scratching, your best bet is to take a trip to the vet.

You may be given a shampoo that is Mitoban or you may be able to use Ivermectin if your dog is not a collie or mixed in breed with a collie. Collies have severe reactions to Ivermectin that can be deadly. Use these medicated treatments carefully and follow the vets orders precisely for the best results.

Many people worry they will get the skin trouble their dog has. In fact, humans have their own kind of mange and it is about the same as the kind dogs get, but not exactly. Sarcoptic mites for humans and dogs are different, but they produce the same kinds of symptoms. If you are bitten by a mite that is from a dog, you will have red welting in that area. The only way you will have the complete symptoms is being around human sarcoptic mites, or scabies.

If you are having trouble with your pet being extremely itchy, you should first consult with your veterinarian. Many skin conditions carry the same symptoms as mange, but they also may be the signal of underlying diseases as well. Some disease can present in a dog with loss of hair, swelling, and itching. Only the qualified diagnosis of a vet should cause you to treat for certain ailments involving the skin.

You will also need to treat the areas in your home and yard where your dog lies at the most. Bedding materials are most likely hiding places for mange mites that are not attached to a host. Use hot water and disinfectant to make sure you have gotten rid of these mites.

Find a wide selection of Mange treatment that will remedy this condition fast! If your pet is suffering from mange, ear mites, or other conditions, you can find the best treatment quickly!

The main human food that will kill your dog is chocolate or more precisely the theobromine in the chocolate. Some chocolate has more theobromine in it than others. For example, white chocolate has only 1 mg of theobromine per 28 g (1 oz) whereas baking chocolate has 450 mg per 28 g.

So how much theobromine does it take to poison a dog? Well, the answer to that depends on several considerations like age and health but most significantly the weight of the dog. Let us say that an average, knee-high, collie-type dog weighs 20 kilos (about 45 lbs.), then it would take about 250 kg (560 lbs) of white chocolate to harm him, but he probably would have exploded by then anyway having eaten 12.5 times his body weight in food.

However, the scenario changes quickly when we examine other types of chocolate. It would take about 1.5 kg (3 lbs) of milk chocolate to have the same outcome and about a third of that in sweet cacao or half-a-kilo (1 lb). The most hazardous substance is baking chocolate. It only takes just over 100g or four and a half ounces of baking chocolate to give a medium sized dog life threatening problems.

Therefore, the biggest danger would be of a dog eating a chocolate cake with chocolate icing or topping. Children are the worst, albeit innocent, culprits: they frequently give dogs cake at parties and it is one to look out for.

So, what should you do if your dog eats chocolate? It depends on the quantity and the quality and your dog. The safest thing would be to take him to the vet as soon as possible, but if you are confident you could wait for symptoms like vomitting, diarrhea, twitching, seizure, palpitations or undue wetting.

Theobromine attacks a dog’s central nervous system so not all dogs will react in the same way, but you will definitely discern that your dog is perplexed, befuddled and distraught.

If you decide to treat your dog yourself, the first thing you should do is stimulate vomitting all the while comforting your dog. A 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide should do the trick. Give your dog a teaspoon full if it is under 10 kg and a tablespoon if it is over 10 kg. Give every 15 minutes until it takes effect. After this, try to get some activated carbon into him to soak up any residual poison. Follow the directions on the packet.

If you live miles from anywhere or you think that your dog is at high risk (the school vacation season is the worst), you could get a pet’s first aid box from your vet. They are not expensive and have a long shelf life and you will not be caught out if someone gives your dog chocolate.

Owen Jones, the author of this article writes on quite a few subjects, but is at present concerned with researching What to do if your dog eats chocolate.
Caring For Turtle – Tip One:

Get knowledge… as much as possible. The more you know about your turtle, the more little tweaks you can make to its habitat, diet, and handling. This will make you a master turtle owner, easily making your turtle love the heck out of you!

Care for Pet Turtle – Tip Two:

Make the necessary household adjustments. This need not be a major, laborious process. But it will require a one-time “set up” so that you and your turtle can get the most out of your lives together. A few things you should do include calling local vets to find one experienced in treating turtles, acquiring and setting up you turtle’s tank, and learning the best diet for your particular breed of turtle.

Caring For Turtles – Tip Three:

As far as your turtle’s drinking and swimming water is concerned, avoid using chlorine at all costs. Tap water is definitely chlorinated, so you will not want to use it unless you have let is set in a big container for 24 hours, minimum. This will allow the chlorine to evaporate, and then the water will be usable. Of course, if you’ve got a couple dollars to spend, you should definitely invest in a few gallons of spring water.

Pet Turtle Care – Tip Four:

It is imperative that you provide your turtle with a mercury vapor UVB heat lamp for basking. This type of lamp will provide your turtle with sufficient amounts of vitamin D3, which prevents bone disease and premature death. Without this lamp, your turtle is in serious trouble, so please do not overlook its importance! Leave the light on for about half of each day.

Caring For Turtles – Tip Five:

Be sure to keep the temperature of your turtle’s tank in its ideal zone. What is this zone? Well, it really all depends upon the particular breed of your pet, so again, please educate yourself. A general guideline to follow is 80* F in the daytime and 70* F by night, but I can’t stress this enough… learn about your turtle’s specific needs based on its breed! To heat your tank, you should use an underwater heater.

There is never a good reason for your turtle to die prematurely. All you need to do is educate yourself a little. Go to the library and check out a few books, or buy one of your own. This simple act in and of itself can help you extend your turtle’s life by many years. Turtles can live an extremely long time if cared for properly, so invest a little time and money at the very beginning, and you will see that it was well worth it years down the road!

Turtles make incredible pets. A lot of individuals simply do not realize how much character these animals possess. I commend you on your decision to learn all you can about your pet. That shows that you really care and are committed to being a great turtle owner! Of course, your learning has just begun…

The truth of the matter is that far too many of these wonderful animals die prematurely at the hands of ignorant people. Do us all a favor and don’t be one of them. Learn how to take care of your turtle, please.

The requirement of healthy food seems to apply equally to humans and their pets, because many animal owners prefer to buy organic foods to feed their four-legged friends. One could be forgiven for being surprised at the large variety of organic dog food available on the market. Just like for humans, there are a lot of pet illnesses that one could cure or even prevent in the first place by the use of organic pet food.

For example, organic dog food could lessen the chance of the dog getting skin diseases and allergies. The reason for the positive health impact is the absence of additives, chemicals, colourants and pesticides. Instead the ingredients in organic dog food are just grain extracts and high quality proteins.

Healthy, organic dog food contains more nourishment, which is obvious from the greater levels of energy and the normal weight of the dog. Furthermore, regular dog food can cause diabetes and excess weight with all the concomitant problems that accompany these illnesses: back ailment, organ failure and decreased mobility. How can organic dog food help here, then? Well, simply because organic pet food does not contain bulk filler; they are nutrient-packed products that create energy not fat. Moreover, it is far better and definitely a lot easier to prevent health issues than try to treat them later.

Good digestion and a stronger immunity system are the other main benefits that come with the feeding of organic dog food. Because of the lack of chemicals usually present in ordinary pet food, your dog will no longer vomit or experience gas or diarrhea. A healthier metabolism is what you will achieve with a healthy diet. Furthermore, the quality of the nutritional substances in organic dog food, boosts the immunity functions, thereby reducing the risks of infection and all sorts of specific diseases that affect dogs on a routine basis.

A high number of veterinarians claim that organic dog food substantially increases the life of any animal, not to mention the fact that it will go through old age a lot better. It is quite common that pet owners who choose organic dog food, are also interested in eating organic foods themselves, sticking to healthy organic food that boost bodily functions and reduce toxins and disease.

Ask your dog food provider about organic dog food and if there is none available in your local shop, try to order it online. There are many web pages that sell such foods at fairly decent prices.

One last tip, be very, very careful with dried dog food like biscuits, no matter what the label says. A few years ago, I had a dog called Becky that stayed at home alone during the day, while I went to the office. I didn’t like to leave her ‘wet’ food, because of flies, bacteria and vermin, so I bought dry food, which would not go off during the day. However, within six years she had contracted diabetes, which meant that I had to inject her with insulin every morning. Sometimes, she would have a fit. The vet said that it was very common for dogs fed only on dry biscuits to contract diabetes, so check the food with your vet first or feed organic wet food.

Todd was going home one evening when he stopped at a light. While waiting patiently for it to change, he spotted a mutt huddled next to a fence chewing on itself with great intensity. The light seemed longer than usual and Todd kept watching as the dog chewed. He noticed a bright red area on its leg and what looked like blood. The poor animal was making itself bleed.

Sam decided to turn into the parking lot and have a closer look. He was fully aware of the fact that if he decided to leave, he would not forgive himself. The dog did not even notice him as he got out of the car. As he moved toward the dog, he reached out and held his hand to the animal.

The area was circular and red, with a swollen area in the center almost the size of a plate. Her coat was mostly gone in that area, but she was determined to keep chewing. The dog seemed so miserable.

Sam searched around her collar located a phone number written on her collar. He pulled out his cell phone and dialed the number and was told that she had escaped days before. Sam mentioned the dog hot spot he found on her and Sally, the owner, said she would be there in around 30 minutes.

As soon as Sally got there, Sam showed her the hot spot. “Over the years I’ve seen dog hot spots and this is definitely one.”, said Sam. “If this is not taken care of soon, she may get several more sites like it.” They talked about it and decided that the overnight vet a few miles away would be a good idea.

The vet said they made the right choice and shaved the inflamed area and applied a cleaner to it. As Sam climbed back in the car, he was very happy that he was there to help. Before you know it, the dog would be healthy again with the proper care.

Susan helps teach dog owners about dog food allergies and writes about allergy dog foods.

How the best mange home remedy for dog mange matches up with science is a short article that illustrates how four at home treatments follow a scientific approach. These four remedies may be low tech but they still produce some benefits.

In cage DL the newest arrival quivers from painful itching, and when the dog cannot tolerate the itching any longer it bites another patch of dried skin. Up to now, attempts to control the dryness and itching have not worked. Do homemade remedies work? How do the dogs react to side effects? Can these remedies bring back a shiny coat? These questions occupy the thoughts of pet owners.

Hydrogen Peroxide Mixed With Borax

The first remedy involves mixing borax with one percent hydrogen peroxide. This solution kills parasites under the skin. The person who mixes this treatment cannot easily see these tiny insect perpetrators. This solution will still dry up and kill these insects. The formula to make this mange treatment involves placing between four to eight teaspoons of borax powder in a single liter (or one quart) of peroxide. Stir this mixture until the borax powder dissolves in the hydrogen peroxide. Borax, sometimes called powdered borax, has existed for many decades. People use this powder to clean household items like buckets, mops, and clothes.

For safe application, beware of safety precautions. Do not substitute similar ingredients for borax powder or for one percent hydrogen peroxide. For instance, borax powder has a milder toxicity compared with the very poisonous properties of boric acid. Never replace powdered borax with boric acid. Splashing this mange solution in the eyes or drinking causes a serious medical injury. Do not replace one percent hydrogen peroxide with concentrated stronger hydrogen peroxide. Also do not utilize any other type or form of peroxide. Use either one percent hydrogen peroxide or pure water. The formula for the solution using water contains between two and four cups of borax for every gallon (four liters) of water. The solution that uses plain water needs to be stirred until the powdered borax clearly dissolves.

Pour the borax solution onto the mangy area on the skin of the dog then let the area dry naturally. Treat the mangy area on a weekly basis over the course of one month.

Soapy Water Remedy

Applying mild soapy water to the mangy skin of a dog provides some relief for mange. The formula for soapy water should contain only one cup of soap added to ninety nine cups of water. If the soap or dish washing liquid is ultra, concentrated or strong, then use less soap, use one half. If a person has no containers larger enough to hold all this water, then mix one tablespoon of soap with ninety nine tablespoons of water. The secret to making this soapy water remedy effective is to make the water less soapy not more soapy, and to not rinse the soap and water off the dog until five or ten minutes have elapsed. Soapy water gets rinsed off the dog, but the borax water does not get rinsed off. Soapy water kills by drowning insects that sit on skin.

Oil As A Remedy

Oil in its many forms is just lying about the house. Oil is made from petroleum and from plants such as corn, soy, olives, and sunflowers. Butter contains animal oils. These oily products can smother small insects so that they die.

Pet owners should also observe the behavior their dog. They will better detect excessive scratching and chewing. Biting one spot for a long time is a symptom that could indicate mange. Gray leathery patches of skin are not good signs.

Science Behind Home Style Treatments

These home remedies reduce mange to some degree because their application accomplishes three actions.

Kill parasites not seen.

To kill parasites than can be seen.

Prevent new infestation.

External parasites known as mites cause the uncomfortable skin ailment known as mange. Other more well known external parasites are the flea and the mosquito. Mites lodge themselves under the skin where they cannot be easily seen. In summary, the borax and peroxide solution kills the mites under the skin.
