Settling a puppy into their new home is a very exciting experience for all and with little planning things will go smoothly or as smoothly as they can with a new puppy.

One of the things you need to give some thoughts is the equipment you will need for the little one:

A new puppy will need a safe and secure place to sleep and placing a ticking clock near their bed will calm them when they are in their bed because it is like their mothers heartbeat.

It is necessary to have a supply of toys that they can chew on and play with. Puppies love old stuffed toys and these can be bought cheaply from a recycle shop or garage sale.

The chewing toys are really quite important. More so than many dog lovers actually realize. The reason is the following: Your puppy will grow his teeth and naturally, he is going to want to chew. Now the choice is yours, should it be chewing toys or furniture?

Of course, your puppy will also need to eat and to drink. So food and drinking dishes will be needed. Just get one of each. They do not need to be fancy, but practical. Also get some puppy dog food and milk.

Furthermore, you will want to take your dog for walks, so you will inevitably need both a collar and a leash. Once you have those you can gradually start your dog training.

Additionally, if you choose to crate train your dog, you will not get around getting a create either. Moreover, you might also want to consider buying a few warm clothes if you live in a cold climate.

One of the most important things one needs for a new puppy is love and attention. If you give a puppy the attention and training they need then they will repay you with unconditional love tenfold.

Who hasn’t heard the saying that old dogs cannot be taught new tricks? Well, I do not necessarily agree with this statement 100%.

In terms of difficulty, training older dogs does not differ too much from training puppies. However, when training older dogs you have to be conscious of the fact that you need to handle them differently than you would handle the little ones.

A lot of people would testify that training older dogs is, in fact, easier because of a number of reasons:

Older dogs have learned the meaning of the word “no”; older dogs are less energetic and calmer; and, older dogs understand dominance so he’d be more susceptible to learning through your guidance and leadership.

So when the big day comes, you will bring your old dog home for the first time. Now, you need to toilet train him. He will not know where he is allowed to go to the bathroom, so it is up to you to show him. Also bear in mind that his system might be a little bit upset from traveling, so be ready.

Before bringing your dog into the house, show him his bathroom area. Stay here until he has done his business. Beware: This might take some time. Do not expect him to do it immediately. Just try and stay calm and relaxed and wait. When he does do it, positively reinforce this behavior with a treat. This should motivate him and help him to remember this area faster.

And then in you go: Bring him inside and let him check out the house. And always remember that just because he understands where his toilet is, he might not be able to tell you when he needs to go.

Be sure to look for signs and take him out. Do not forget to praise him. Once his system’s gone back to normal, you may schedule his trips to the bathroom area as you would to a puppy: Once in the morning, every after meals, after playtime, and before bed at night.

Each time you bring him outside and he does his business, praise him. And should accidents ever happen, just clean it up and continue as planned. Do NOT punish him.

There probably isn’t a dog lover on the face of this earth who wouldn’t want his dog to listen to his commands. Fortunately, this can be accomplished rather easily. You can be quite successful if you follow a few basic strategies on how to begin and what to do.

To get you started off, here are a few training tips that might help you:

1. Ideally, in the beginning, you should limit the people who train your dog to just one: you. This way your dog will get used to you giving him commands faster, and you avoid confusing your dog by several people giving him the same command in various different ways.

You should also give out your commands in consistent terms for your dog to remember and follow.

2. It is important for your dog to know that you are the boss. Put simply: let him know that you, and only you, are the pack leader. Keep in mind that dogs are pack animals, and they will intuitively look to their leader if in doubt.

One of the things that characterize a pack leader is being responsible for food supply. Hence, in the eyes of your dog, you can strengthen your position as pack leader by eating before he does.

3. You need to use positive reinforcements. You should reward good behavior and ignore unwanted behavior. Refrain from punishing your dog for disobedience. Instead, show him that good behavior would earn him treats and praises while bad behavior will get him none. Using positive reinforcements will also strengthen the bond between you and your dog.

4. Sometimes dog training is not an easy task. You certainly have to be both persistent and consistent. Getting upset at your dog will not speed up the process. Try to stay calm and keep working at the commands patiently. Know that the process will take time and that your dog most likely will not learn the commands overnight.

Yes, it is true… dog training may not be super, super easy. But always keep in mind how much better your life -and that of your dog- will be once you have trained him properly.

Dogs aggressive with other dogs may be a complex and distressing dog behavior issue, with each particular situation necessitating an specific tactic, There can be many varied factors as to why dog aggression towards other dogs would possibly turn into a challenge and could begin if your canine is 5 – 6; it does not consistently begin as a puppy. Dogs aggressive with other dogs is quite threatening and should be resolved at the earliest opportunity.

Canine aggression is often a really critical issue for whatever canine which is enticed into an attack with a different animal. Frequently, unless you handle the dilemma right away the aggressive tendencies might become much more serious swiftly. You can’t merely overlook this violent pattern, or not think that it truly is taking place. Dogs aggressive with other dogs is usually not a once and done incident, and it’s essential to tackle the matter at once!

Kinds Of Dog Aggression Towards Other Dogs

Keep in mind that I am only covering the types of aggression that are directly linked to dogs aggressive with other dogs, not dogs biting people or other animals. Typically, canine aggression toward other dogs fall under these categories:

Dominance Aggression

Learned Aggressiveness

Fear or Nervous Aggressiveness

Territorial Aggressiveness

Predatory Aggressiveness

Sex Aggressive

Protective Aggression

Any of the categories that I listed might be the cause of aggression in dogs towards other dogs. Most of the time, however, dogs aggressive with other dogs is caused by not enough puppy socialization, a bad experience with another dog or it could be a dominance battle. Before deciding which category fits your dog you should have him/her checked by a vet to rule out medical causes.

How To Deal With Aggression In Dogs

As with the vast majority of dog behavior issues, proper dog obedience training is most times the answer to this problem. Dog obedience training puts you up on top of the pack as the firm but fair leader (you MUST be perceived by your dogs to be the alpha leader; no questions asked.) Once you have done some obedience training with your dog you will have voice control over him in almost any situation.

Early puppy socialization is also a must, if you get your dog as a young puppy; make sure that your puppy is exposed to other people and animals outside the home as much as possible. If your dog comes to you later as an adult dog and has been poorly socialized, then it is even more critical that you turn to some obedience training to set things right. It won’t be an easy road with an older dog, but for you and your dog’s sakes it must be done or you will wind up with a host of problems in a hurry.

n conjunction with early puppy socialization, bite inhibition training is crucial in the puppy phase. It’s your responsibility to show him what is or isn’t suitable or correct to munch on and it shore don’t include your foot! Bite inhibition training is essential and, done the right way, can reduce difficulties down the road.

Using items such as shock collars when dealing with an aggressive dog is stupid, in my opinion; you already have an angry dog on your hands, and to add pain into the mix is like trying to put out a fire using gasoline. There are enough humane methods out there for dealing with this kind of behavior that you shouldn’t even have to consider resorting to shock or prong collars.

The bright spot on the horizon is this: dog obedience training is the solution to nearly all dog behavior issues, to include all kinds of dogs aggressive with other dogs problems. You will require patience and consistency, along with good training skills; dog aggression signs aren’t easy to cure but you can do it.

You can get answers to dog aggression problems on this page: Dog Aggression. Livia A. Warren’s puppy and dog obedience training website is also bursting with great information and solution for dog training issues at:Training

Millions of people enjoy the many advantages often inherent to the ownership of an animal companion. While the vast majority of owners love their animals dearly and look after them to the best of their ability, many others treat their animals poorly. In some cases, owners do not even realize that they are not treating their animals properly. They often fail to understand that their animals need specialized pet supplies.

An astonishing number of animal owners are not aware of the proper diet that is needed to keep their animals healthy and happy. Many people do not realize that they expose their animals to health problems by feeding them an incorrect diet. Each type of animal and breed has very specific needs. Most veterinary practitioners will gladly provide advice. It is also important to obtain the food from reputable professionals only.

Healthy animals are better companions and they often live much longer. Animals, just like humans, need regular medical checkups. Owners who fail to do this often find themselves faced with hefty veterinary fees because they left it too late to obtain professional help. Animals do not display the same signs as humans when they experience pain or discomfort. Regular medical attention can help ensure a happy animal.

Even when buying the correct balanced for an animal companion, it may be necessary to also make provision for a variety of supplements. Older animals, especially, often need additional nutrients, vitamins and minerals in addition to their normal diet. Most vets will be able to advise on suitable supplements. In some cases, it may be necessary to change the entire diet of the animal with age.

Animal owners should try and avoid giving their companions toys and other accessories that was not specifically developed for animal use. Many substances that are harmless to humans can have grave consequences for animals. Most reputable animal clinics offer a wide variety of animal toys and accessories that were specifically designed for their use.

Many owners unwittingly cause harm to their animals by using human grooming products and medication. There are many examples of this practice causing extreme illness and even death. It is very important that only products that have been developed for use on the specific species are used. In addition, the use of products meant from one species should not be used on another. Supplements for cats, for example, should not be given to dogs.

Owners should exercise care when they buy products for their puppies Toronto. Most department stores stock a wide variety of such products. Consumers should beware, however, that they buy only products that have been tested scientifically and that carries the stamp of approval issued by recognized industry associations.

The most common question most dog owners ask from their veterinarians is regarding the type of food they will feed their pet dogs. As the market for dog foods provide a vast number of choices for pet owners, choosing which dog food is best for you four-legged friends is sometimes daunting. For help on this challenge, read on as we provide a list of guidelines you may ponder on when choosing which dog food you will have.

One of the first things to do when choosing the best dog is to ask friends and family about their experiences. The breeder you received your puppy from is an excellent source for determining which food is right for your new best friend. Also, you can also ask opinions from experts such as your veterinarian regarding the type of food that best suite the needs of your pet. Make sure that you inform them how much your budget is for them to consider the amount of the dog food they will be advising you.

Dogs’ ages or life stages are another consideration before buying a dog food. Depending on the dog’s age, its dog food must meet the nutritional requirements important at that specific stage. An adult dog may not need all the nutritional elements that are included on a puppy’s food as much as a puppy may not yet need all the ingredients contained in an adult dog’s food. Aside from their ages, dogs also differ in sizes. Hence, underweight dogs may need dog food that includes more nutritional ingredients while overweight dogs will need less of such.

The dogs’ health or medical condition is another consideration in choosing the right type of food for your dog. Just like humans, dogs may suffer from certain conditions like diabetes, allergies, cancer, or digestive difficulties. As such, you must select the type of food that caters to such conditions.

The most important factor, though, that would help you in choosing the most appropriate dog food for your pet is its breed. Various types of dog food are specially formulated for specific dog breeds. Labradors, German Shepherds, Irish Wolfhounds, Great Danes, and other larger breeds of dogs, for example, are the market for foods rich in glucosamine and calcium. Also, your dog’s preference also comes into play in the selection of dog food. It does not necessarily mean that two dogs with the same breed would always have the same preference for food.

After successfully deciphering the type of food for your dog, your next decision will be on the brand type you will be selecting. The first thing you must do in selecting the better brand is checking the products label. Check the ingredients included in the product and make sure to avoid those filled with “food fillers” like wheat and grains. Do not be deceived by the commercial appeal of the product.

Overall, nutrition is as critical for your companion as it is for you. The right food is not always easy to find. You can try Hundefutter products, a German term for dog food. There is a variety of dog food products that are formulated to meet the demands of all you dog lovers out there. They have the Royal Canin Hundefutter that is made especially for our four-legged furry friends.

Finally, always remember that you are the boss. You want to give your dog the best time on earth, don’t you? When your dog is healthy and happy he will be your trusted companion for a much longer time.

Alexandra Sherbrooke likes pets and has a Chihuahua. She ensures that she buys the healthiest dog food products or Hundefutter for her pet. Royal Canin Hundefutter is a regular part of her “to buy list” as she treats it as the best in the market.

Males Vs. Females

One of the biggest myths surrounding those tacky brown spots in the yard is that this is a female-dog-only issue. This is not true, and clearly a lie propagated by male chauvinist dogs. Female dogs get a bad rap because they squat and completely empty their bladders in one location, effectively dropping a huge concentrated load of nitrogen in one area, while male dogs tend to spread their urine all over the backyard, in multiple locations. Depending on how and where your male dog urinates, however, he could cause just as much of a lawn-burn problem as a female dog. And he will be less likely to tidy up the place and do the dishes.

It may not be the urine all the time

Scolding your dog about his or her urine stains in the yard each time you see a brown spot is just so unfair. If your dog is well trained to pee in a particular area, there are many factors that might have caused the brown stain. Don’t single out that your dog has done some misbehaving.

Super Green Patches Of Grass

There is another misconception about dog urine – they burn grass. How sickening thoughts they are for dog lovers! Actually, as the dogs grown older, their urine becomes more dilute. It also becomes capable of making the grass greener.

Does this happen because you trained your dog to drink too much water or eat his greens? No. This is because as a puppy grows, the urine will often become more dilute due to the high metabolism as your dog grows older.

Even with the older dogs who are in their twilight years, the greening capacity that their urine have on grass remains steady. This may be due to their disease that makes their urine even more dilute. Then, you can boast of your beautiful green lawn!

always remember when they are puppies this is the only time that the urine has a browning effect. The older the dog gets, the more dilute the urine becomes, and the more dilute the urine becomes, the greener your grass becomes.

Do you really love your dog?

Your dog is more than just a pet to make you feel better after a hard day’s work. They are truly a man’s best friend, capable of providing unconditional loyalty and affection. If you have seen the touching story of Hachi, the most faithful dog (Richard Gere as the lead actor), you’ll realize of how emotionally attached dogs can become. A good indicator of how much your dog loves you is when it is obedient to you and can understand the tone of your voice. This emotional closeness can further improve with dog trainings.

How do you know when to start dog training?

Dog training basically begins when your puppy or adopted dog enters your house. Whether you are conscious of it or not, you ARE TEACHING YOUR DOG. You teach your puppy to respond to its name. You teach them where their boundaries are. You give them clear guidelines on hygiene, where to pee and poop. You train them to love watching tv, receive treats when they are nice…etc… What you might miss out is giving the CORRECT FORM OF TRAINING. This is why so many training gurus provide the correct tools to make your life more comfortable and less mind-boggling.

Categories of dog training

There are two categories of training your dog: the positive and negative reinforcements. Yes, you got it! It’s almost the same with a human child’s training. You enforce positive training if you refuse to scold, yell and hit your dog if they have done a negative behavior. It also means not giving them treats that often. You instill negative training to them when you refuse to train them at all, this is actually a form of training – training them to be lazy. It also happens when the dogs will have unhealthy emotions towards you because you yell, hit, and scold them too much.

Teaching your dog the very basics.

Verbal commands and hand signals are basically the very basics of formal dog training. Doing training without correct guidance will probably take too much time. But if you insist on trying, then here are some tips. There are 5 basic commands that a dog needs to follow. These words are ‘come’, ‘sit’, ‘stand’, ‘down’, and ‘roll over’. Hand signals will depend on your creativity. For instance, a clenched fist might mean stop, an open palm might mean sit. You really have to think what will be effective and easy for your dog to comprehend and eventually follow.

Escalate your formal dog training.

The help of professional dog trainers will help you not be frustrated in dog training. There are people who have inded helped hundreds already. Just watch out for the baloneys who are just pretending. The real ones have tested strategies that will work for every situation. Even the most impossible situation has a solution. After the basics are completed, you can get a list of the American Kennel Association’s list of higher level skills and decide if it is already time for you to teach those.

If you’d like best value and effective dog training tools, then visit Ed Randall’s site to find the best advice on dog obedience training for you.
