Like most humans, dogs also need good nutrition. We need healthy food that would contain most nutrients that our body will need. The same goes for dogs. They need good dog food that will enable them to live a healthy and happy lifestyle.

What a dog will eat will most certainly reflect on what type of owner his master is. That aside, dogs need well balanced diets that will help them keep up with their very active lifestyles. You will have to make sure that he gets not only nutritious food but also chemical free food as well.

Dog food can be quite unregulated in the market so make sure you buy from trusted brands. Your vet can recommend you some brands for you to choose from. Dogs also have varying needs. A pregnant mum will have a different need from a puppy or a senile dog or a sick dog as well. There are a lot of formulations to meet these varying needs.

Make sure that is has enough protein, carbohydrates and also vegetables. Your dog will need as much vitamins and minerals that he can receive. Make sure that they are made of quality ingredients. Most products come in lamb, beef or chicken with vegetables.

Try dishing up your own preparation of dog food. Good dog food is composed of 40% protein, 30% carbohydrates and 30% vegetables. You can save a lot of money and also you get to make sure your dog receives the fresh food that is preservative free! Make sure this is made of the best quality ingredients otherwise it will be better to buy dog food instead.

You can also create your own dishes. Try making rice balls, meat balls, tomatoes mixed with ground beef and the like. Make sure they are quite tasty for your dog will surely love it. Just avoid the chicken bones and chocolate.

Enjoy and create good dog food for your dog. When shopping, imagine that you would want the best for yourself as you would want for your dog.

Pet training has many advantages. It allows animals to exercise their intelligence in constructive ways, stops them from engaging in destructive behavior and keeps them under your control. Learning to perform actions or tricks on command can be fun for pets if they get plenty of affection and encouragement in the process. This is why the most successful form of training uses positive reinforcement.

Animals naturally learn to repeat actions that lead to desirable outcomes. Positive reinforcement works by rewarding pets when they do something right as opposed to punishing them when they do something wrong. Rewards in the form of a human praise combined with a food treat are highly effective.

You’ve probably already trained your pet through positive reinforcement without realizing it. If a dog or cat scratches at the door and you open it, they learn to associate the behavior of scratching with the reward of going outside. You reinforce the behavior every time you let them out when they scratch.

Intentional, rather than accidental, training involves getting pets to respond on command. Envision the specific action you want the pet to perform and come up with a single word to trigger it. Cue words of one syllable such as ‘stay’ or ‘come’ are less likely to confuse an animal than more complex commands.

As soon as your pet performs an action in response to a command, reward him with enthusiastic praise and a tasty treat. Always give the reward before the animal engages in any other behavior. If you are teaching a dog to obey the command ‘sit’, praise and feed him while he is still in a sitting position. If he moves first, he may think he is being rewarded for standing up.

To teach an animal to get off the bed or sofa, chose a simple command like ‘off’. When you find your pet sitting on the furniture, get a food treat and hide it in your hand. Stand over the animal, loudly and clearly say ‘off’ and gently push her to the floor. Immediately praise her and hold the treat to her mouth. Do this every time you catch her sitting where she’s not allowed. Eventually, she will jump off the furniture in response to your command, without the accompanying push.

When an animal has learned to reliably respond to the cue word, you can gradually stop rewarding her with treats. But do persist in offering praise and affection in return for good behavior. Dogs are eager to please their owners and generally require no other motivation. Depending on their individual personalities, and the extent to which they have bonded with their owners, some cats and birds will also continue to obey commands once the food incentive is withdrawn.

Pet training requires patience on the part of both the teacher and the pupil. There will be good days and bad days. Do not continue with a dog training Kelowna session if your pet seems tired or distracted. Never resort to scolding or punishment for bad performance. This will cause your animal to associate the cue word with negative consequences. Training should be an enjoyable experience that both you and your pet will be keen to repeat.

Training a puppy can be frustrating, dog training requires discipline and consistancy. When experiencing problems, consult a professional. Bark Busters offer a reliable and affordable service for house puppy training.

No one is sure why some dogs suffer from separation anxiety and others don’t but, separation anxiety can become a real problem for both you and your dog especially if that problem is compounded by excitable urination upon your return.

The first step in dealing with separation anxiety in your dog is knowing what is occurring when you are gone. If your dog is howling, barking or continually whining when he is left alone, he tends to be destructive when you are gone but not destructive when you are close by then he probably suffers from separation anxiety. In the simplest terms this means that when left alone your pet becomes lonely, miserable and even fearful. This is made worse in some dogs when you come home. They are so glad to see you that they get so excited that they lose control of their bladder leaving a smelly puddle on your floor. They can’t help this type of urination it is simply their body’s response to this extreme excitement.

You can solve both problems with some simple training of your dog. To begin helping your dog overcome his separation anxiety start by sitting in a room with him quietly while he plays with some of his favorite toys. Once he has gotten used to playing while you sit quietly get up and leave the room for just a minute and then return and once again sit quietly. Continue doing this, extending the time you are gone until you can leave the room for a half an hour or more without the dog feeling uncomfortable.

The next step is to start making short trips out of doors. If your dog barks or howls remain outside until he has quieted and then return and again sit quietly in a chair. Eventually, you can increase your time out of door and then even leave the property without causing any anxiety in your dog.

No Fan Fair

One of the important things to remember is that dogs are sensitive to the feelings and actions of their owners. If you make a big production of your leaving and returning, your dog will see these actions as an important event in which he should feel anxious or excited. If you handle your going and comings with matter of factness your dog will attach less importance to these events as well.

By training your dog to accept your goings and comings as a natural order of things, the problem of excitable urination will most often resolve itself. If you leave and then return without paying any special attention to your dog on your arrival he will accept your return with calmness over time and the problem will simply cease to exist.

However, make sure that you do give your dog the attention he needs and craves at other times, spending quality time with him during the course of the day will teach him that you value his companionship and he will be less likely to suffer when he is not the center of attention or when he is left alone.

Making sure your dog has fresh water and food and plenty of toys to play with will also help to keep him engaged and entertained while you are gone.

It is believed that the best approach to housebreaking a puppy is to set a routine and stick to it. If you are consistent with your training, your puppy will learn faster; soon enough he will defecate and urinate on his own.

The next step you need to take to housebreak your puppy is to determine the area of your yard that will become the dogs potty area. This is where your puppy will do all of its training as this is going to be your puppy’s comfort zone.

What you should do is take your little dog to the potty area every day. When it begins to urinate or defecate, give the puppy a treat. You will have to do this to let your puppy know that it is doing what you want and that you are pleased with its behavior.

You always have to reward your dog for a job well done. It can be great if you incorporate useful words like go poo or pee in there, so that whenever the puppy hears you say those words, he knows exactly what he is supposed to do.

Keep in mind that it is important to do go through this process regularly. Take your puppy to the outdoor comfort zone the moment it wakes up in the morning and just before it goes to sleep at night.

Another consideration you should commit to memory is when you feed your puppy. Again, consistency is important. Choose your feeding times and stick to them, even if it begs for food at other times.

By feeding your puppy at consistent times each day, you can start to learn its bowel and urine habits. You decrease the chances of your puppy defecating or urinating in an appropriate place if you know about what times of day it normally needs to relieve itself.

Furthermore, it is important to make sure that the puppy is eating the right types of food, as some types of food will cause irregular bowel movements. Stick to plain foods meant for dogs to begin with, and only introduce plate scraps and leftovers when it has made good progress.
